Nature Walks and new baby Evelyn!

How cute is this photo? This is Vera holding sweet baby Evelyn Munn. She just arrived home to her family here in Shanghai this past Sunday with her mom, Monica. The Munn family are dear friends here in Shanghai and it has been exciting to watch them go through the adoption process over the past year or so. We are so thankful for them and their family and for baby Evelyn to finally be home. She is 8 months old and precious. I don't know how much Vera understands about her story and Evelyn's story being similar... but I do know that Vera loved holding her and loves talking about baby Evelyn who was 'born in Ethiopia, just like me!'

Tuesday was Grave-Sweeping Festival...Qing Ming Jie...here in China. While we did see a few people outside burning paper-money to ancestors, it mainly served as a day off of work for most people. Alex had the day off and took the girls on a nature walk around the apartment complex. Yes, I know...nature walk in Shanghai? It wasn't exactly like hiking around the lakes back home, but they set off with their kiddie cameras, magnifying glasses, and some bags for collecting specimens and had a great afternoon. Here are couple of their better photos...

This last one was hilarious. I was uploading and sorting the 100+ photos that they took and trying to find the ones that weren't blurry (seriously those kids cameras should come with Image Stabalizer something or other) and came across about 10 photos of this pair of shoes. Apparently the girls found them outside under a bush and thought they were really pretty. Looks like Dorothy left her ruby red slippers behind or something...there's no place like home!
