Jesse Tree - Day Four

Here is Vera, hard at work on her fourth ornament!
Today we read about the Tower of Babel... Genesis 11:1-9
So for our ornament, we made little ziggurats to represent the tower. Our cardboard box was cut into again and the girls then glued little bricks (construction paper) all over it.

As a kid I heard the story of the Tower of Babel but more fully understand the folly of the builders now. It wasn't that God didn't want them to be near Him...He does want His people close to him. That is what was so tragic about the disobedience of Adam and Eve. Their sin made it impossible for them to dwell near the Holy God. The whole situation at the tower of Babel was that they were going about it all wrong. It isn't about what we can do to get close to God. It's about what He did for us. In His perfect time and perfect way.

As you can see, our ornament is hanging in a tree. We got our Christmas tree today! It was actually a very exciting day. This morning we headed out to a farm near Summerfield that grows some Christmas trees and Alex cut down our tree!

As you can tell by the smiles, the girls LOVED choosing their tree!
And on the way home, to top off the already AMAZING morning...
The first snow of the season!
It couldn't feel more like Christmas around our little home today.

We even had enough snow to build a little snowman in the backyard.

Geneva got into the snow-man building as well.

Some photos from the evening...decorating the tree.
