We've been dealing with about two weeks of off and on rain recently, and Monday morning when the sun came out, we headed to the zoo! Alex took Monday off after a long weekend out of town and went with us. The Shanghai Zoo isn't anything fancy, but it is cheap, cheap, cheap and there are some wide open spaces, and it has a pleasant atmosphere. As long as it isn't 'school field trip day', the park is generally pretty empty during the week. A couple weeks ago we went and saw the bird section and enclosed aviary. This time we saw the monkeys and petting zoo (which turned out to be just an enclosure with goats). The girls had a fabulous time as you can see here...
Wide open spaces!
Big, communist-looking statues...

Many of the monkey enclosures had babies in them. We spent most of our time searching out the ones with babies and watching them. These chimps kept giving kisses...
And this little guy just wanted to nurse!

The girls and Daddy having a snack by the chimps.
And then we found the petting zoo. For 3rmb we could buy a dish full of green veggies to feed the goats. We bought quite a few bowls and ended up spending well over an hour in here (and yes, that is a bouncy castle in the goat enclosure...it cost extra and the girls didn't even think twice about trying it out once they saw the baby goats).
The goat next to Geneva just snuck up beside her and snatched the greens out of her hand! We had to put the stroller up on a picnic bench because the goats kept coming over to nibble at the straps...I guess they really do eat anything!
