February! A few photos...

February has been full of Chinese New Year, Valentines Day, and a few special family days coming up (our 7 year anniversary and Vera's birthday coming up this week!). We have been braving fireworks, and cold, rainy days as we adjust back to life in Shanghai. It's been a happy and full couple of weeks. Here are some 'home' photos of the girls on some of our special days.
But first a photo of our only fireworks casualty of the Chinese New Year...the girls' bedroom window! On night 2 of the new year, some neighbors were setting off fireworks a little too close to the building (as usual). Unfortunately this time their firework trajectoried (is that a word?) into the girls' bedroom window. Alex was reading bedtime stories with them and the curtains were closed so no glass came into the room. The girls found it extremely exciting when Alex rushed out to get his shoes on and head downstairs to find the guys who did it. They were long gone by the time he got downstairs. The good news...the apartment management will replace the window for us. The bad news...the window repair guys were on vacation until the 18th. So we've had their window all boarded up for two weeks now.

On a happier note, we had a fun Valentine's Day. Here are some photos of our breakfast and the girls with their special cards and stickers from Mimi and Opa!

And here's a fun rainy day activity for you...
Make your own bunkbed out of a kids table and sofa cushions. Seriously, they spent all afternoon one day building this and taking turns sleeping on the 'top bunk'.
