Happy Birthday to Vera!
Vera turned four on Friday, and what a day it was!!
We started off with pancakes...in the shape of 'V's' of course! And then on to morning present opening before Daddy went off to work. We had a full day ahead of us, so it just seemed that morning would be a better time for opening presents. The main objective was to avoid the after-dinner meltdown that comes from birthday cake and too many fun presents to open. It was successfully avoided and the day went pretty well.
This was her big present: A stuffed dog as big as she is!

Yes, despite having a real dog in our home, she really, really wanted this big stuffed dog. So between Alex's parents and ourselves, we came up with all kinds of accessories for it...a vetbag, a leash, a doggie raincoat, bowl, and some treat/toys for it. And Vera just adores it!
We waited on the cake until after dinner. Her birthday dinner request? Xiao Long Bao! These little steamed dumplings filled with soup and meat are her current favorite food.

Then on to cake and candles.
Vera is such a joy and we are thankful for her amazing four years of life!
