Last month Wendy Jane took part in a small swimming class at a friend's apartment complex pool. She had a great time, though I wouldn't say she is officially a swimmer yet. We went twice a week for three weeks (total 6 lessons) and by the end she was able to put her head underwater without tears. I consider that a great accomplishment for my very cautious little girl! She could also swim down and back across the pool with a kickboard...also a great achievement! Hopefully we can find a way to build on these skills and next summer we will be able to really see her swim!

Here are a few photos from the pool days. Vera came along as well and had a fun time in the kiddy pool...although her real wish was that she too could take part in the swim class. Sometimes she would sneak over to try to take part in the class :)...so cute!
Here is Vera with her swim cap on. We had to buy them when we swam earlier in the summer at an indoor pool. For our friends here in China, you already know this, but in China it is usually required to wear swim caps in swimming pools. I must say, though, it is VERY hard to get a four year old and two year old to keep their swim caps on the entire time they are playing at a pool. By the end of the summer, though, Vera thought it was acceptable and initially somewhat fun to put on... I do think she looks super cute in it! It usually only lasted about 10 minutes, though, and then it became more of a 'pool toy' for
throwing around.
