This morning our family went together to a wholesale flower market nearby and the girls and Alex picked out some flowers for me for Mother's Day! Here are the girls with the Gerbera Daisies they chose. These were definitely the best deal of the day...2 kuai ($0.25) for 10 stems. Unbelievable! Wendy chose pink and Vera chose Orange. Each one had a little plastic around the top so when we got home they spent about 20 minutes trying to get each one off...

And here is the most unique purchase of the day. After a VERY long time looking at the little plants, Vera selected this one to bring home and put in her special doggie planter. To me, it looks like someone stuck a thick leaf down in the dirt, but it is in fact some sort of plant with roots down there in the dirt. Vera and Alex did some 'porch gardening' out on our balcony this afternoon and re-potted a few new plants. Sorry no photos, but I'll try to take some of the fresh plants tomorrow!
